This is one of two leather hides that I bought
when I purchased my seats so the color would match. The size is much larger than
I imagined and to give you an idea of what I'm talking about, the small
black piece in the picture is 2" X 7". Notice that I still have some rolled
up which would make this even larger by about three feet. What I'm going
to do is try my hand at upholstery but I've never done it before.....so..... if
anyone has any ideas, tips or knowledge that they could pass on to me, feel
free to do so. I figured that I should start with a small piece and the
one that you see below was the smallest I had so let's get
        started.

When I bought the body, I also bought
what Redneck calls an upholstery package which consisted of a bunch of
flat fiberglass panels that cover the doors, headliner, two large pieces
        behind the
seats, two small ones above the doors and the A-pillars. The A-pillar pieces are the
ones that I'm going to start with. The panels have small metal clips that
fit into holes in the body to keep them from coming loose. These clips are
1/16" thick which means that I will have to build-up at least that
much so when the leather covers it, the clips won't show through. I used
cardboard for my layer of material that is the same thickness as the
clips. I then made some clearance holes in the cardboard which now
brings the clips and top surface of the cardboard to the same level. I
then used another layer of cardboard on top of this one so the holes and
clips wouldn't show. To keep the cardboard from going anywhere, I glued
them in place with some 3M Adhesive which comes in an aerosol
        can.

Here is a better shot of one of the
clips. The part that cross's like an "X" fits into a 1/4"
hole in the body. The round part is what you see in the picture
        above.

I found this piece of the material
that was in a corner of the large hide and then marked some lines around my panel about
one inch all around it. I experimented with different kinds of corners
and after the third one, I think I found out how to do them so they look
        good.....I think!
