33 Coupe Paint 13

In this shot, you can see that the
paint isn't as shiny as before. The reason is because Bart sanded it with 1200 grit
sandpaper and it's almost ready to be buffed out but I told him not to
worry about that because the graphics will be going on soon and this is
how it has to look when they get painted on. I didn't want him to buff
it twice so this is how it will look for awhile.

Under the car has been undercoated
black for two reasons; first is because I want the car to be a driver,
not a trailer queen. When the tires kick-up up rocks, this stuff has a
give to it, unlike the paint on the outside has plus it will make it much easier
to touch-up if need be. Second, it contrasts with the other colors
better than if it were painted orange like the rest of the car. Like
I've said before, color-on-color doesn't look that good to me so this is
        why I chose this color.

I also had Bart do the underside of
the fenders but not the back of the wheel wells with undercoating. The
rear fenders will end up like this as well. The reason for having those
ugly small wheels and tires on there is so we could walk around the
chassis easier when we were installing the body. If I had the other
tires and wheels on there, they would stick out twice as far so this
made our job much easier. Don't want to be tripping on large tires while
holding the body in the air now do we?

What your looking at here is my rocker
panel which is located at the bottom of the door. What you see here is
an area that was fixed by Bart that will have to be fixed again. What
happened is when I was fitting the body on the chassis two years ago, it
wouldn't sit all the way down on the frame rails so I had to grind away
some fiberglass from the each side underneath. Once I was all done removing
material so the body would fit, there was an area three or four inches
long on each side that broke through. You could see the chassis through
each side which was right up against the body in this area so when Bart
fixed them, he added some on the inside and outside. The part that was
added to the inside was forced outward when the body came to rest
installing it and this is why you see the torn area now. Bart said he would be able to fix it and I don't have to remove the
body to do the repair. The good news is that this area won't show very
much so if the paint doesn't match exactly, then no big deal. When I
take the car over to have the graphics painted on, he can do the repair then.
