In this shot you can see the two
roller lifters hooked together. The bar is to keep them from spinning
and goes along for the ride while they go up and down. If this little
link ever came off.....well.....let's not talk about that.

It was time to assemble the pistons
and rods so I got out the spiral-locks that came with the pistons. These
things look like a key-ring but only thinner and working with them is a
bitch. There heat treated which adds strength.

This will give you a good idea what
they look like. These locks are very strong so don't be fooled by how
thin they are. If I let go of it, they spring back closed.

If you look close you can see the
groove (the larger one of the two) where they locate into which is inside the large hole. This is where the piston pin goes and the locks
keep the pin from coming out. Two spiral-locks go into each groove which
        means four locks per piston.
