This is the oil pump pick-up that came
with the oil pan. It's made special to fit in the bottom of the pan.
Notice the two holes. These are used to fasten the pick-up to the oil
pump so it doesn't come loose. If this were to ever come loose, by by
engine so let's hope it stays in place.

I'm using a high volume oil pump made
        by
Melling. For just a few more dollars, this is a good investment.

This is the oil pump and the oil pump
shaft. It's not much to look at but should this piece ever stop
working....well let's not talk about that.

ARP makes just about anything in
fasteners and the oil pump is no exception. Just screw the coarse thread
in the rear main cap (the other end takes a hex key on the end of the
stud) and your ready to bolt on the pump. You have to check the distance
between the oil pump pick-up and oil pan to make sure it isn't to far
away or to close. About .100" to .200" of clearance should do
just fine. Don't for get to install the oil pan gaskets and then check
or you might end up with to much clearance.
