This is the inner (front) fender that
I had put in place when I made the headers so the holes were already
drilled at the bottom for mounting it to the frame. I should have known
that this "holes not lining up thing" at that time because I had
to use the Dremel to make them fit after I drilled the dimples out. Oh
well.....live and learn! These inner fenders had to be in place so I could bolt the
fenders to them. Now lining up the body lines is very critical to having
a car look right or not so careful attention was paid make sure it was
        right.

In this shot you can see I added a
bolt to the inside of the panel to attach to the body. This had to be
done because the inner fender stuck out away from the body and didn't
line-up right. It wasn't easy putting a nut on the back of that bolt. Two
people would have been nice but when you work alone, you figure out ways
for one person to do the things that two could do much easier. Now that
the inner fender is in place, it's time to fit the front fender.

The same thing applied here as it did
to the rear. I drilled the holes in the outer fender first, clamped it
back in place and looked through the holes to see how close they were to
lining up with the dimples. Well hot damn....this side lined up very
close. It was so close that it looked like I could have drilled both
sides separately and then slide a bolt through them. I didn't take the
chance of not having them line-up again so I just drilled through the
inner fender one at a time, put a bolt and washer in place and then
tightened it up. This procedure worked great for the 10 holes that had
        to be drilled in fender.

Here is what it looks like when both
front fenders are in place. I had to remove the front fenders about six
times each as I was fitting them. Now all that needs to be done is a
small amount of sanding to make the body lines line-up at the point the
fenders meet the running boards. The grill shell was next on the list so
let's see how that's going to fit.
