It's Finished Continued

You can see the area where I welded the nose on but I think it looks good that way.

There's something about looking at a bunch of engine parts that's very pleasing. Or is it just me?

I like all the different heights of the parts as it makes for a cool effect.

Springs and things!

With every other link welded, the tail is very sturdy and doesn't make any noise when it's picked up.

That smaller part sure did get warm. Or should I say..."what a pretty blue color it is now"!

That piece in the foreground that has three steps in it was very hard to weld. I don't know what kind of material it's made out of but I couldn't believe the lightshow I was seeing and it completely wiped out the tip on my welding torch. Right then I decided to see if a magnet was attracted to it and sure enough it was. That ruled out it being a nonferrous material because that would have explained what happened.

I asked my daughter Tracey if she knew what this part was and what material it's made out of. A short time later she sent me some info that you can see in the next picture.

One of the tech guys at her old work sent her this screen shot of the exploded view for this part, which is part #1 - Segment.

The tech guy didn't know what the part was made out of either so that didn't help, but it's nice to know it came out a Yamaha YZ 125. And remember that piece that I turned blue? Well it's part #3. Now that I have this drawing I recognize a lot of these parts because most of them are in a box in my garage. The tech guys at her old work must have replaced a bunch of these, along with a few others.

Here is the backside with all the welds. I had to bridge some large gaps here and there.

Here is a good shot of the hook that it will hang from, which also came out of a motorcycle.

This was a really fun project and I hope my daughter Tracey likes it because I'm giving it to her. I mean it seems only fitting as she's the true gear head in the family, plus she gave me most of the parts. Now I have to ship it to her all the way to the east coast. I hope you like it sweetie!!
