The shifter at this point is finished
and works great. Notice the small red piece that is below the shifter knob. This
is the "reverse lockout" lever so you don't accidentally shift
into reverse while moving forward. Once you move the lever from any of
the forward gears and work your way towards reverse, you have to first
stop in neutral, then push the red lever forward and then you can go
into reverse. This is also necessary to pass the NHRA tech inspection.
It's a safety feature that is really a good idea if you think about it,
        racing or not.

It's a little hard to see here but I
put some insulation around the shifter cable because it runs next to the
exhaust on both sides. If you look close, you'll see both exhaust pipes
in the picture but I couldn't get a very good shot of them so you'll have to take my word for it. And no the cable isn't
touching the driveshaft on the top either but it does look like it. This
should finish the transmission section at this point so that's one more
thing I can cross off the list.
