33 Coupe Before Paint 14

To make it easier to move around, I
placed my rear end on one of my wheel dollies. I had no idea that these
dollies would come in so handy for so many different things. There's my
ol' buddy hang'n out with me again.

What I'm going to do is remove my emergency
brake components because I won't be using them. I never made any
provisions for having one and I didn't really think I would need
it.....by need it, I mean use it. I know I need one to be legal but oh
        well.

There were more pieces than I expected
and I lost another three pounds of weight in the process. The rear end
is now ready for paint. I got all my other pieces ready for paint and
put them in a box. The other pieces that are being painted are my brake
pedal, brake push-rod, master cylinder, the piece that I made to replace
my power brake booster, transmission cross-member, rear sway-bar, front
and rear disc rotors (the part that the brakes don't touch near the
center is the only part being painted here), steering linkage bracket
and a few other small parts. Bart (my painter) said it would be about a
week before he would have all these pieces finished which is much faster
than I expected. Once the chassis is painted, I can take over the body
and while Bart is working on that, I can start reassembling the
        chassis.

One thing I didn't like was the way my
engine was resting on my engine stand. What I mean is the weight of the
engine was causing it to droop down real bad and I was afraid it would
break a weld on the stand which would mean the engine would hit the
ground. Call me paranoid or call it thinking ahead, but I made some pieces
out of 1" X 1" X 1/8" angle iron so the engine would sit
level without the risk of falling. By placing the braces under the motor
mounts and the other end against the stand, there're locked in place and
now I have piece of mind. These took me less than an hour to make and is
well worth it to me. I'll be documenting the whole paint process on the
body along with pictures so be sure to drop back by soon.
