Rifle Upgrades  3                                              06-2019

Here I'm test fitting the flush cup into it's new home and so for things look pretty good. But when I tried inserting the mating part into my new hardware, it wouldn't fit because the sling swivel hit the angled sides of my rifle stock.

I placed the stock back on my milling machine and removed the area that was in the way (arrows). I had to do this at both ends.

New Rifle Sling

My new sling is made by Quake Industries and is made out of rubber. The sling will remain flexible down to -40 F,  is U.V. stabilized to eliminate fading or cracking and it's adjustable. Also, the sling will not hold water like foam, urethane or leather which is a good thing.

To insert or remove the sling you just push the button and it fastens. But you have to depress this button all the way down to release it so there's no fear of just bumping it and having it come loose. What a great design!

This fits great now and it still swivels, but not 360 degrees. This is a good thing because I won't have to worry about untangling anything or flip the sling around at anytime.

Here you can see what I'm talking about. This is the max distance it will swivel before the sides of the stock hit the sling swivel. At this point I'm very happy with how it fits.

Now it's time to make things permanent so the flush cups stay put.

Here is what they look like up close. You thread them in using a hex wrench, which is very easy.

The arrow is pointing to a groove that the quick detach swivel balls lock into. This allows for the swivel action and keeps them from coming out. This works out for a very strong and stable setup.

I'll be using epoxy to keep the flush cups from coming out which will make them permanent. This is a five minute epoxy made by Loctite. I've used this stuff for many other projects and it works great.
