Here is a close-up of the washer installed in the rubber foot. If the washer isn't installed, the screw head wants to push it's way right through the rubber.
 

 

 

I marked my spots one inch from each edge and drilled a pilot hole for the screws. Here you can also see the sanded edges that I talked about earlier.

I used mineral oil to coat them with, which really brings out the colors.

Here is the one I made for my wife. I really like how it came out.
 

 

 

the end grain looks unusual because of the two piece of zebra wood.
 

 

 

On the other hand, I kinda like it.
 

 

 

These should provide many years of cutting action and they aren't too big to be used everyday.
