33 Coupe Having Fun 12       7/25/10

On Saturday July 3rd, Farmer Boys in Moreno Valley had their monthly car show that ran from 5 to 8 pm. This is the same Farmer Boys that took pictures of the car and made T-shirts late last year.

The weather was in the low 90's (which is nice for this time of year) and they had a decent turnout too. One nice thing about this show is that if you eat here, you're just about guarantied that you'll have a good meal. And being that I had some coupons for some food, how could I go wrong.

They had games for the kids, raffle, 50/50 drawing and a 'wheel of fortune' which was a dollar per spin. See that round white thing in the picture below, that's the wheel of fortune which had different food items on it that you could win from their menu inside. It was a pretty good deal really because the cheapest thing on the wheel would cost you more than a buck and once people realized that, they had a gang of folks around it most of the day.

Lets check out some hot rods that showed up.

The license plate says "casper 1" on it in case you can't read it.

In case you missed it from the picture above, this was the hood ornament.

As I walked up to this car, I noticed something a little different. What I saw was a rainbow kind of look on the fenders and at first thought they were some kind of ghost flames but when I flipped my sunglass's up, they disappeared. I did this a few times and asked Larry if he saw what I describing to him but he didn't see it. I stood there for a few minutes till the owner came over and wanted to know if he could answer any questions. I told him what I was seeing and then he realized what was going on.

Apparently he had what's called 'an invisible bra' put on to help protect the paint against rock chips. This bra was really a thin sheet of plastic that gets heated and stretched into place right over the paint. This thin sheet was playing with the sun which caused me to see different colors coming from it because my sunglass's are polarized.

That line you see is the bra and was installed about half way up the front of the fender. It went all the way across the front of the car but was broken into small pieces to go around curved areas. Once you stepped back a few feet, it blended in and you couldn't see it. Pretty cool!

This use to be a sand car that has been converted into a 1/4 mile vehicle. It had a rat motor with an automatic trans.
