Working With Wood Continued
I'm going to use Minwax stain on this project.
This stain is oil based and stinks
pretty bad so applying it outside is a must.
I had some polyurethane left over from a previous project so I'm going
to use here.
I applied two coats of clear in the garage to keep the amount of dust
and dirt to a minimum. This stuff is water based so it's easy on the
nose.

Working With Metal
While the clear was drying, I started working on the adjustable shelf
pins. I had these 1/4" diameter rods in my scrap bin and thought they
would work well for this.

I cut them 1 1/4" long and then machined them on my lathe. I also put a
small chamfer on each end along with removing the black oxide coating
with some sandpaper.

It's Finished
Here it is all finished.
Remarkably, the top surface is pretty flat now so all that messing with
the clamp and jack made a difference.
If you look close, you can see my brand near the bottom/center.
I'm not sure where the shelves will end up but they are easy to adjust.
