Precision Vises  3                                              10-2018

This vise will open up to 50 degrees. Note the step in the top cylinder. That step is .100 so you can do very small angles with the use of precision gage blocks.

I'd like to tell you that it was worth the wait but I'd be lying. I should've finished these many years ago.

On the other hand, I guess it's better late than never.

The holes in the sine vise line-up with the holes in my sine plate that I made many years ago. I did this in case I needed a compound angle, in which case I would bolt them together to accomplish this. And the holes in the other vise are for bolting it down to the milling machine table if I wanted.

These were fun to make and I hope to get many years of service from them. However, if you looked close at the very first picture on page one, you may have noticed that I was making three vises. Unfortunately, I didn't finish the larger one because the grinder at my work isn't large enough to grind the ends. That vise is 12" long and I had trouble grinding my smaller ones as I had to use a small diameter wheel to grind the ends. Hopefully, I can use a grinder that is large enough and finish the other vise someday. And when that happens, I'll add it to this one.
